Shed Started, have ??'s
Okay, I noticed earlier in the week her eyes looked hazy and guessed correctly that she was going into a shed cycle (yay). I bought one of the digital Thermometer/hydrometer to better check the humidity and keep it up as much as possible. I have been fighting to keep it in the mid 50's. So, I figured I would make a humidity box for her today. I had a small play tote with a hole in the top. I covered the holes in the sides with tape (inside and out so no sticky surface was present) and set the box on its side so the hole was at one end and not the top. I shredded some wash clothes (don't tell my wife) into one to two inch strips and wetted them down with warm water. Took her out of her hide and put her in there. Also took advantage of the disruption that was already going on and cleaned the cage. I also took a hand towel and placed on the floor right above the heat pad to keep the moisture up. As soon as I left her alone for a bit I noticed she was, what appeared to be, rooting around in the wash cloth strips. I checked on her a little bit ago and she had the skin off of her head and down a few inches into her body (it looks as though they eye caps came off fine.)
So, one question is how long will it take her to get the rest of the skin off?
The second is when to feed after the skin comes off. Normal feed day would have been today, but I figured she was in a shed cycle and did not offer food. Do I just wait until next Sunday, or offer food when she gets the skin off?
This is so exciting.
