Akesha eating 2nd meal
Well, things are going well. She had her second meal Sunday. I have not received the f/t rats I was supposed to get in the mail two weeks ago!! But I made a run to the pet store and picked up a couple feeder mice. I know they are small for her, but will have to suffice for now. I talked to the supplier again tonight and he assures me they will be shipped tomorrow. We'll see. She took one on Friday evening, and then showed little interest in the second. So I froze it, and tried again Sunday evening. Put her in the feed tub with the mouse and she snatched it right up and constriced for a while. She looked at it and moved it around for a long while (about 1/2 hour) before finally downing it. I just set the feed tub inside her cage and then take the lid off after she has finished the meal. Seems to work good. I do have one question though. She ate them both butt first. I thought they usually ate nose first. Either way, she got it down fine. Hope you enjoy the pics. Should have a shed and a poop comming soon. Thanks for all the support.

Thanks. I thought it was cute. I wasn't too concerned about the backwards eating as long at it goes in and comes out ok. I have handled Akesha a few times and she likes to move around outside of the cage. She is a little jumpy around her head and neck, but I assume that is normal for a snake that has not been handled much. My 10 year old daughter handled her for a little while Sunday evening before we fed. She loves snakes. Well, I am off to be for the night.

Usually when they eat tail end first, it means they are super hungry...atleast that's what I think

That could be. She is used to eating every Thursday. It was two weeks and a day between feedings with being shipped and getting used to a new home. Plus the meal was smaller than she is used to due to not getting the proper feeders in yet. Maybe she is just a backwards snake. She would fit well into our household

My corn snake Merkin used to eat all her pinkie mice butt first. She did it for at least a year before I finaly saw her eat one head first. It was always funny to watch.
