Ball python on Coconut fiber?

Can I put bed-a-beast in my ball python's tank? he has just started his third shed and it was not as good as I wanted it to be. I spray 3 times a day VERY thoroughly and am using coconut bark right now. his humidity just doesnt hold. he is in a 20 gallon tank and i have a screen top. I have a very large (1/4 of bottom of tank) water dish and a live plant in there. It is a pothos. His humidity goes up to 80% for about 30 mins then drops rapidly and within another hour it is down to 30% cool side, 19% warm. I use bed-a-beast in my Geckos enclosure and it holds humidity much better.

geez 19%? you need to move out of the north pole ol' fella...just joshin but have you checked your hydrometers and compared them with new ones?that seems mightily low

Yea im not quite at the north pole but it gets 110 here in the summer and -10 in the winter. I have a digital Fluker's temp/hydrog combo. and the 19% is under the che
But is it ok?

i would suggest Forest Bedding. Holds humidity GREAT. I would also suggest *unless u alreayd do this and i missed it* covering the screen top with a towel or plastc...will keep the humidity in.

I used cypress mulch previous to this and it didn't fare much better, but i will try that towel thing. What is forest bedding? who makes it/where can i get it?

its EXACTLY like the coconut fiber (eco earth) except its like more dirt like than coconut fiber-ish.

I only use Coconut Fiber for one of my creatures, an Asian Leaf Turtle as I need a dry bedding for her.

Cypress mulch is great as someone else said on here. Repti bark pretty good too but Cypress the best.

Hope this helps..you will never be able to keep humidity up with Coconut Fiber

But I use this dirtish Coconut fiber in my gecko cage and it holds moisture SO!!! much better. We must be using different stuff. The cypress mulch i used to have held it for a while but it would just drop right off after a while. once i get my plants going well it should be better but I put a moist towel over half the cage and it worked very well

i use coconut fiber in Akuas tank and it hold the humidaty verry well i just add warm water every other day or so to it and it stays moist

I was thinking the coconut shell bedding that is kind of in chunks. Yes the coconut fiber expandable stuff is good. If misted and you can stir it up it does hold humidity well. I had a headache all day yesterday I must of got confused..sorry
