I got a carpet
As you all may know i was looking at getting a carpet at the show this weekend and got a killer deal. A guy was moving to hawaii and they do not allow snakes on the islands. So he had to get rid of his whole collection. I saw the snake and asked if it was nice, he said it was nippy but alright. A nippy 7 ft carpet but i was a little scared but i saw the snake and fell in love with it. I also asked him how much and he was reluctant to pursue a sale cause im a 15 year old kid and my dad was not by me at the time. So time goes by and my dad comes up and asks that's the one i want and the guy immediatly told me $30 and it's yours. I said $30!!!!!!!!!!!!! The other carpets were about $125 So i gave him the money and the snake is now mine. She is gorgeous. She has a single gold strie down the middle of her body. The snake is in shed now but i will post pics ASAP.

Yey!!! Congrats!!! I would be worried too to hear you wanted a 7ft carpet, but since you have a cool dad that accepts your hobby, and many other snakes... I guess you already have some amount of practice and you really like snakes!!!

ya my dad grew up in arizona catching rattlers with his brother and got me into them at a very young age. I just dont get why people think kids aren't capable of keeping herps. I was at the expo so that means im in the loop of herping. But o well i will post pics tonight. She just started shedding.

I think teens are perfectly capable of taking care of some herps. What happens is that maybe, well, if it was me the seller, I would be afraid to sell to a teen if I knew he/she was buying on impulse, and dump the animal after the first thrill. Well, adults buy on impulse too... lol... but kids tend to be more restless... But your case is obviously totally different!!!

I agree but isn't that the kinda stuff that goes on in petco or pet shops? Because you need to be a carer and that kinda stuff to go to an expo don't you?

Wait a minute...... I don't want to get angry but i'm 15 and I don't want to say I know it all cause i dont but I do know enough to keep healthy happy snakes. I am just as capable of reading books as you are. I don't want to start an angry arguement because we are all on the same mission but i do think that kids are just as capable of keeping healthy snake at the smae level as an adult.... to an extent. I could never keep hots but i do keep carpets and bcis and macklots and atbs. Do you get what im saying
