Blood spotted in shed
Hi my snake recently shed a full shed but there was a small light spot of blood in the shed This has happened twice already the blood is not thick or runny just small spots in the shedded skin the first time it happened the blood was in her stool because she shed and defecated at the same time.
I am debating wether to take her to the vet the second stool after the shed and blood stool combo was clean but i packed it up and have been holding it to take to the vet if things get more complicated I have been holding the poo for about a month. I don't know if an accurate reading can be met after holding the poo for a while but I kept it anyway.
Other than this my snake is fine explorative reactive and dosen't seem to exhibit any other symptoms
In her cage that i recently broke down and washed with antibac soap is a section with coconut bark there is a bowl of water a heat pad and just paper for substrate below the cocunut bark chips.
Thanx,
Any info would help

The poo will be good as long as you keep it frozen. A vet told me that the last time I had to make a trip. The only way I can imagine blood getting in the shed is if maybe your snake was having a problem shedding the skin, and rubbed up on something, puling it too hard. Or maybe something biting her. I would think that if she had any kind of external parasite you would have noticed already though.

Thanx for the info I just took my snakes shed to some guy I know. He said to look out for mites. He also recommended me a vet to go to. there are some granite rocks in her cage, but the shed was all in one piece in the humid part of the cage the rocks are on the dry side.
Thanx

If I remeber correctly... Brett(JuliusSqueezer) advised refridgerating a stool sample over freezing it.

If I remeber correctly the purpose of not freezing is that the water cells crystalize and burst, making it too difficult to tell the water cell from parasite eggs.

He probably did, I think I remember now that you said something. I just know that the vet told me to freeze it. But they were the same vet that told me my snow corn needed UV light. I should have just left that part out.

Yeah, I'm going to Gainesville from now on. Screw an Exotic Bird Hospital, or whatever it was. The regular vet here in town recommended them to me.

I remember reading a post a long time ago that if the blood is located on the cloacal hole of the shed that it is ok. This post was for a Ball Python, so it may not be the same for all snakes, but when it did happen it was nothing to worry about and pretty much normal.
