my ball python has a dent in his right eye.... he can see perfectly fine... or so it seems but there is a dent int eh outer covering... the other eye is perfectly rounded... i am just wondering could this be because he was dehydrated? i have been working on that... soaking him, we got this "hydrolife" stuff that has worked rather well... i am just being a concerned owner.... any help is greatly appreciated....

I read that is because he is dehydrated. Get him a humidity box. Just by a tupperware thing and fill it with peet moss and mist it regularly. That way your bp can access it as he pleases. Does he shed in one big piece, or pieces?

Wait a second. I think that there is a difference between dehydration and low humidity. I don't know if one in particular causes dents or both. I just know that a humidity box will do the trick.

I tried that with my bp a while ago and it didn't work. I have bad luck with snakes and bathtubs.

i have a red tail boa as well, and he has a mark on one of his eyes, but it doesnt seem to be low humidity(he soaks regularly). I was wondering if it could be mites?

I would think that a mite on an eyeball would be quite recognizable. And if it had mites you would see the lil bugs in the cage and all around. There is another type of parasite that gets under their skin and makes a lil bump. I would think that would be pretty noticable also. Is it a white bump? Spot?

It could be a retained eye cap, and will go away on the next shed
