My new blood python!!
She's not bitten me yet but she's very frisky to handle. Any advice on how to handle such a fat snake because i'm only used to my small Ball Python.

Very nice blood python. I have one and he's not very frisky at all when I pick him up and he's never bitten me. He's also soft when I hold him. Mine's stomach grumbles a little bit, too. It's not something to worry about.
Yours seems to be a blood python with some of the typical blood python attitude. For a snake that gets to a very big girthy size and spends all of its time on the ground, when you pick it up, it's going to be a bit afraid of falling, so he's going to be a little frisky and spastic. I somewhat cradle mine like I would be cradling a baby, but even with picking him up with one hand he's not spastic, but every blood python's temperament and personality is different. Yours probably isn't used to much handling, either. But what I would suggest you do is just try and make him feel secure as much as possible when you pick him up and hold him.
By the way, what-all is your cage set-up like for your blood python? Temps, substrate, humidity, etc.

I try to keep humidity above 60% at all times with a big water bowl for her to soak in. i have a 4ft viv with forest bark and two hides. Temp at 80-90 during the day and just a heat mat on at night. she's been in a pet shop all her life, i used to visit her dailey for about 4 months!! i put her in the bath yesterday to soak and she went crazy!!! emptied the bath of water, lol.

Well all sounds good. It's naturally so humid here a lot outside and in my reptile room, I only have to raise the humidity once in awhile, but when it's winter I really have to keep my eye on things. I'm glad you got her out of the petstore, now she can have more room to roam.
Mine seems to like a good misting with room-temp water, but I've only given him a good washing under the sink faucet a couple of times and he didn't mind too much.
Mine's a bit of a loaf, rather. I just pick him up with one hand and set him down someplace and he stays. He's very cooperative when it comes to pictures. lol

Congrats, he looks great.
As for handling, im new to the species, but with my borneo I find he does a lot of wiggling around so as snake woman said, supporting him is your best bet. Or even holding him in your lap. They tend not to grab onto your wrist as with most snakes

I'm from England so the temperature and humidity is alot lower. I have to mist her twice a day and always have some kind of heating on.
Your turtle pond looks cool!! we could never have anything like that over here, even keeping them indoors would require a heater. got any picsf your blood python??

one that size you should hold with both hands, hes probbly risky b/c hes not very used to you, but i find bloods to be unpredictable, i have bloods just as nice a boas, and then some are just the devil, but if you can hold him without him striking at you or anything like that i would say that he will soon grow out of the friskiness. they are not so much diffrent then BP's but in so many ways if you get my point but good luck with him

Re: My new blood python!!
on handleing questions, if your blood python is a docile snake and you can hold it ( if you can lift it lol) then they are really just big lap snakes. Like Adrya Webbs then thats how you hold it. to hold it i put them kind of on my neck and shoulders like a burmese but i also hold each end with my mands because they are heavy snakes and can hurt themselves if they are held in the wrong way. ( organ and rib or spine damage) you have to be careful when they get big, for the snakes sake. And also, if you own this particular species, YOU WILL MOST LIKELY BE BITTEN OR STRUCK AT But you should keep holding it because they will get more tempermental if you don't. Oh and when the get big, they have BIG teeth. But one at that size won't bleed to much. its a good looking snake. good luck
