thinking...
i am thinking about buying an 8 foot long carpet python, its feeding well and is very tame. The guy only wants 110 dollars, think i should buy it? I have the room to keep it and everything just wondering if they are hardy and if they are really difficult to take care of.

Carpets are my favorite pythons. I thought they would be a pain(bitting and just being difficult) but they are really beautiful snakes. Thats also a pretty good price.

its a female, not sure how old. Probably young for an 8 footer because i know the guy feeds his snakes a little heavy so they get big

I'm with Lethargiic. I know how hard it is to say no. But, it is so easy to go overboard with something that is fun. It then ends up being nothing but work, work, work. Before you know it, you stop enjoying it. You sit and wonder, man how did this get to be so out of control.

There was a breeding pair of Carpet Pythons in my local paper, a male and female for $200. They came with there cage and everything, but my mom (who I am living with currently), was like NO WAY, because she read a story about a Carpet Python killing a dog, and constricting a baby, until it almost died. I was like are you SURE it was a Carpet Python...? I know they get long 8-12ft, but I thought they were pretty slinder snakes... Oh well.

I also have to agree, each time I go to the local rep shop I see something new or something I really wanted, and I work out if I can buy them etc, but I have to ask myself if my circumstances change, maybe next month or in 2 yrs or more what happens to my collection then anyone can fall upon hard times and with a few or more reps to feed...???? Brings to mind an old saying, "A pets for life not just for christmas" Sorry to sound so negative.

It was a wild one that came into someones house. (This was in Australia) It didn't eat the dog, it just killed it.

Don't ask what she is doing in that picture. I, myself, have no clue. It looks like she is laughing.
