Live Bamboo?
I'm building a new enclosure for my bp, and I wanted to know if live bamboo is ok to put in there. Is it harmfull to harmfull? If so, any other plant suggestions???
Also, nobody really had an answer for me on the whole "flaking" thing "flaking" thread
If somebody could give me some ideas on either of these questions, I'd be REALLY grateful!!!

I dont think the plant itself would cause any problems, but you have to be careful with what type of bamboo you would use.
Some of it grows VERY aggressively and the rhizomes may start to cause problems with containers, or the cage itself.
There are types that are pretty mellow and stay small and grow slowly, but you have to know exactly what it is your getting, and want to use.
All in all, i'd avoid live plants in a snake enclosure, it just creates some maintenance overhead that can be a problem at some point.

now that's hard to believe...lol any bamboo takes some time to grow...generally a few inches a year providing the most optimal care...

I'm looking to make the enclosure aestheticly pleasing as well as comfortable for my pet, and plants seem to be a good choice (as most plants would thrive under the same conditions as my bp, with a little added UV). My main concern was introducing parasites with soil, which is why I thought bamboo (I've heard that it's VERY easy to grow hydroponically).

We have bamboo growing in our backyard, and let me tell you, it does grow very fast. New shoots that come up grow about 6 inches a day. I'm serious. lol

i was talking about those little bamboo plants you buy at home depot or walmart or whatever. must be a different variety...they seem to grow pretty slow.

Im with you on that one, I have some in my yard that I had to sink a 20" barrier in the ground to keep from spreading, new shoots pop up daily, and I've seen some go from 1" to nearly 12" over a single weekend.
But not all types grow so quickly.
This stuff that I have gets about 3" in diameter and about 12-15ft tall (well, thats as best guess as I can make without busting out the dial caliper and actually measuring it.
