Stimsons Python?
One of my friends just picked up a Stimsons Python, and it really piqued my curiosity. He lives in San Diego, so I haven't seen it yet, but I found some pics.

Anyone have any info on these? I haven't been able to find much out about them, especially husbandry and where to pick one up. Thanks in advance for any help.

Not really able to help you out on where to get one..........
Anyway keeping them is pretty similar to keeping Children's/Spotted Pythons. Enclosure size minimum for an adult about 60cmx45cm should be fine. Give them a hide, water bowl and a basking spot of about 31 degrees celcius. I keep mine of paper for ease of cleaning and hygiene. They can be a bit more difficult than the other Antaresia to get feeding, but once they get started they are pigs.
They are pretty versatile in colouration. The WA locality ones generally tend to have brighter more contrasting patterns. Usually they look pretty similar to Children's. I doubt that you would be able to get any locality Aus pythons (or other reptiles) over there.

One of my buddies managed to pick one up, somehow. Anyway, thanks for the info, I'll spend my day converting everything to our messed up measurement system. Thanks

I have a spotted python who is BY FAR the easiest of our reptiles to deal with. I have heard Stimson's are very similar in needs. I keep my spotted on very fine cut cypress mulch with two hides and a small water bowl. She burrows most of the time. Her temps are high 80's and low 70's. I have found that her humidity requirements are higher than what I've read. I mist her daily and keep the top of her enclosure covered with a towel. But she has a fantastic temperment and eats like a champ.

I have 1.2 Stimson's they are one of my favorites! Relatively easy to care for I pretty much have them in the same set up's as my corn & rat snakes (belly heat, 2 hides, fresh water- no additional humidity), although I use aspen substrate they spend a great deal of time on their "trees" one even eats while on the tree (thinks she's a GTP)-but they also burrow. Great, small python. The Barker book on Australian python's has some good info.
good luck!

Re: Stimsons Python?
Bump. (Lol)
Anyone have any more experience with Stimsons?
We just brought home a proven pair (1.1, adults) and hope to breed them early next year.
