This is called the "Garwood" bill that will ban boids with the potential to exceed 8 feet.

North Carolina has a reptile show coming up at the end of April. I'm quite sure you will find Burms and other large constrictors that will grow over 8ft at every table at the show.

The show Can be considered an exibhit, and therefor under that law it can go on, But none the less if it passes it will not go into effect untill 2k6. And anyone that has large boids prior to the law passing can keep them but they have to get their animals tagged and nuter/spayed.

Considering the recent rash of events with maulings going on. It is not too hard to see why something like this will not be passed. I for one would like to see an NC law governing petshop trade, Ive seen too many places here with horrible conditions for reptiles/birds. At least some of the good that can come from this law will keep some of the larger snakes out of the horrible conditions of these shops and it will be a gradual process of takeing these certian exoitics out of the state. So yes in some ways I do agree with this, But in others ways I do not, There are many responsible keepers that I know but 10 fold more that are not, This will help ti keep so many from dieing at the hands of someone that just wants a disposable pet.

Well that really sucks. I lived in and around the Greensboro area for 20 years or so and that is where my big male burm is from. I guess I won't be moving back there now. What a crock. I bet Herp-Chick is going to be really mad since she is part owner of piedmont reptile that is in Archdale and I know that they have | |
