Rough Scaled Python?
Has anyone ever seen a rough scaled python? They are freakin awesome. I know they are extremely rare but have any ever made it to the pet trade? Not that I have the money but just curious I guess.

No, like I said the guy that had it wasnt selling. I didnt look on google or anyother search engine though. I would imagine a lot being the fact that they seem rare.

Where was this guy who had one? in Austrailia?
Last I heard there were NONE in captivity outside Austrailia.
I wouldnt even worry about price, if they do make it to the private collectors trade, it will be 20+ years from now.

I am new to this site so hey everyone.
I have been lucky enough to spend some time working with Rough-Scaled Pythons. They are a very impressive species and I think they are best visualised as a cross between a Darwin Locality Carpet and a WA Stimsons. They also tend to be pretty snappy snakes.
There is a breeding program underway here in Australia at the Australian Reptile Park, and recently several progency have been distributed to other zoos, wildlife parks and some private keepers. Tose that have been sold have commanded high prices ($25 000 per pair)
I seriously doubt that any Rough Scaleds legally aquired would be held outside of Australia.

That makes me a little worried in aspects of inbreeding.

as time progresses , more blood will be available to keepers in Austrailia working with them.
There have only been a dozen or so collected, so what can you really do when you have such limited stock to work with?
As far as inbreeding goes, there are species commonly available on the market today that are in far worse shape than Morelia carinata is.
