Cage heating

I'm expecting a 36" x 28" x 14" Vision cage (for my ball python) in the mail any day now and I was wondering what the best way to heat it would be. I'm planning on putting a large heat pad on the side with the lamp shroud and putting a low wattage (50W) nocturnal bulb in the shroud. I have to get a thermostat of course, but does this sound like a reasonable set-up?

thanks,
Matt

I'd go with a 25watt bulb or lower. Anything higher and while it's on he's gonna cook.
You can get 25watts and lower at Home Hardware
