Pie Hets

I was at the Michigan Reptile show last weekend. A guy there was selling ball pythons 100% het for pie 200$ each. 66% for 150. THe location of the seller is 45 minutes from me. Before I go and buy a 100 male and a 66 female, I was wondering the likely hood that there would be het babies, and If they would all be.

Example: A boa that is het for albino looks normal but carries the albino gene. When it is bred to another het for albino boa or an albino boa, a percentage of the offspring will be albino.

Sounds *way* too cheap to me. Just checked kingsnake and there's a het pied male going for $1250. I wouldn't trust somebody selling hets that cheap.

They are probably "possible' hets I've seen them for around 200.

I know people that HAVE bought Pied hets for 250 though from supposed good sources.
Suposedly there are some marking indicators like some striping at the base of the tail that is a good indicator they are het pied. I wouldnt trust that as gospel though.

Well if your going to be going to him to buy the snakes. I would make real sure there is at least 1 Piebald ball Python there. If he shows you the parents and they look normal, be wary.

Actually there were at lest 12 of each. 100, and 66. No adults and no pie were on the table. all 12 100 were male. And 66 was 50/50

I'm sure , but I mean when you go to his place. i would check.
Unless its a store front then i wouldn't expect him to have the snake there.

I have a feeling he bred a couple supposed het pieds and got all het pieds as babies. I REALLY hate getting hets. To the point where i dont believe in them. Unless it was someone who had a great reputation, and actually produced the morph I wouldnt believe your going to get any pieds out of breeding the snakes.

	Morph A morph is a color or pattern variation that is proven to be genetic. Common morphs include albino, anerythristic, gentically striped, Hypomelanistic, and many others. Morphs also include combinations of simple traits such as "Sunglow" which is Albino and Hypomelanistic. These traits may be recessive traits, co-dominant traits, dominant traits, or created through selective breeding (ie Pastel).
