What is the big deal with these snakes? I saw a Woma Python for sale at $4,500.00
Are these snakes still in the wild? Does anyone have one, do they talk? Is it all hype?

Australia has incredibly progressive, and in my opinion, superiour import/export laws that make it incredibly difficult to receive WC specimens except in the most extreme cases. Aspidites of both species (blackheads are even more expensive) are expensive due to the regions they are found. So you are paying for a practically guaranteed CB animal with very few specimens in captivity. If you purchase a reptile endemic to australia you are going to pay $'s for it. And that's the way it should be. Ever wonder why ball pythons, an animal that produces very few eggs is so cheap?

That would be an outrageous price for a neonate , or juvenile yes. An adult female should get that price.

I know a local guy buy me selling them $750. each when he has a clutch.
What's so special about them? Have you seen one? They are gorgeous, and from what I've heard pretty tame. I'd rather have a Blackhead python, but Womas are awesome snakes. And Yes the Ausies are very proud of their herps and don't like letting them out of the country.

They are also considered to be one of the easiest boids to keep in captivity. The only down side is the price tag. But like you said, you can find folks willing to part w/ them for less money. You just have to shop around. In my house however, we try to have a consensus when it comes to the animals we keep and therefore, much like indigos, we probably wont have a ophiophagious reptile in the home anytime soon.

They do have relitively few problems, feeding is one possible
as they mainly prey on reptiles in the wild.
The regions they are found & rather inhospitable & iscolated
so very little research has been done in the wild.
A population in Sth.West Aust are under threat possibly extinct.!
