Scale rot?

I've got a question, what would you normally do if the snake does have some scale rot? How would you know it is scale rot in the first place?

I've read on other threads rubbing certain lotions are good for this. Also, if the snake shed a few days ago and it was a poor shed (broken up) would the snake go into shed again a few weeks latter to heal itself from the damage?

If the snake has scale you should 1) Lower humidity, or 2) Stop misting the snake/ substrate.

And Im not sure how to figure if its scale rot, Ive never dealt with this, but Ive seen it in magazines and its real ugly.(just looks far different from normal)

And the snake would not go into a shed, those happen during certain cycles dependent mainly on age an how much the beast is eatin', and Im not going to even tell you waht to do because Im no vetrenarian, you could/should research it on the web.

hope I helped some.

I have researched it and I don't think it's scale rot, at least the cases I've seen is usually the bottom of the snake and is from sitting in wet dirty substrate for long periods of time. I use newspaper layers covered by Astroturf, I replace the newspaper and clean the cage with Virosan every time they urinate or defecate. I also have 2 sets of Astroturf carpets that I replace and clean as well.

She shed 3 weeks ago due to normal growth, it was broken up and tough on her. She since has looked dull and has a few scales pointing up. For the past two days she has gone blue as if she is going to shed again in a few days. Right now I am keeping her on newspaper and have removed her water tub, humidity is between 55%-65%. I'm going to give it a few days and take her to the vet if she does not improve.

SSScales what type of snake is it? Also if it has went blue again don't remove the water bowl. Despite what you may think she can and sometimes will go blue again in a very short time. Snakes don't only shed because of groth but also to fix anything that may be wrong with their skin ie......Mites, wounds, growth, old skin. Now the thing about Scale Rot this can and does happen but doesn't always effect the belly scales is some cases it can and will be anywhere on the snake. A good way to identify scale rot is to look at the color of the scales do they look reddish (blood colored "Brick Red") also are the crusted over like scabs? These are some of the tell, tell sign's.

She is a JCP about 3 years old. I don't think it is scale rot. Her whole body seems pretty bad. Her scales are sort of pointing at an angle and not laying flat. They are not reddish or brown in color, her skin just seems real dull.
