New custom tank
I am in the process of building a new home for my pythons. is going to be two tanks stacked on top of eachother, 5x2x2. what is the best way to provide proper heating in a setup like that. plexy-glass all the way around with a flip up front. the thrird level will be a cabinet of sorts, to hold what ever needs they may have. total unit should be 5 feet high.

The tops of my enclosure that I built are of 1/4 wire mesh and I just set 60 watt cermic heat emmitter on top and I am haveing no problems maintaining Temps or Humidity levels with a quick daily spray. My enclosure measures 60x36x24. Sides are 1/2 in plywood and the two front doors are plexiglass.

Here's an old trick I've used for years. When building a wooden cage that I want to put heat lamps up top. I frame out a place up top the exact size of the outter dimensions of a 10 gallon tank screen top. Then screw the screen top into the hole upside down. Mounting it upside down leaves you an indention so that the lamp won't slide off.If you are stacking them then just do the same thing on the back of the bottom cage and light/heat from the rear. As for a heat pad..heating through 1/2 inch plywood is impossible. You will need to place the heat pad inside the cage frame a little lip around the sides and a few middle braces and then mount something thin like tile board/shower surround for an inside floor with heat pad(s) in between the wood and flooring. Make sure and seal it well and don't mash the wires.

I would suggest a flip down or side opening front. To do anything inside the cage you would have to prop the door open and you risk it falling back down. It can be rigged up, but why bother when flip down is just as easy to build?
