Wat would happen if introduced another BP to my original BP?
I already hav a subadult ball python whos eating well (I really have never seen such a ravernous creature in my life, he wud keep eatin for a week if i let him!) and i am gettin a new enclosure for him.
If I was to say introduce a new "friend" for him to liv with wud he be happy or wud it be like the snakes version of Scream?
He's a pretty gd snake only bit me the once and i heard balls are pretty good together (no pun intended), i also wud probaly put in another male cus i #$%^$%^$%^$%^& dont want babies!
So verdict please?Preety please?With cherries.

Im no expert so one will come along who knows more, but i asked a similiar question and i was told it may easily stress your snakes and pass parasites.

Well, generally speaking of course, keeping two snakes in the same enclosure will stress them out. Snakes are normally solitary creatures unless mating. After mating the usually don't want anything to do with eachother.

It is always better to have a seperate enclosure for every snake. Like ironkladd and pathfinder36 it can stress the snakes out. It also makes it very easy for them to pass parasites and things such as RI. If you are planning on getting another snake, plan on getting another enclosure.

In the wild, snakes are solitary creatures and only seek each other out for breeding. They are territorial, and another snake will only be seen as competition. Plus, if one snake gets sick, it's more likely that both will and you will have double the vet bill. It's also easier to track shedding, defecation, etc., when they are in separate cages. Yes, some people do house snakes together with no problems, but it causes unneccessary stress. Any new snake will have to be quarantined for at least a month or two anyway, so why not just leave it in it's own cage and avoid any problems?

How many times have your crossed the street and never had a problem? Does that mean that every time you ever cross a street you wont be road kill?
Just because it has been, does not mean it always will be!
Pet stores are cheap, if they have 20 snakes in stock they will put them all in one tank, why, because shelf space is money, and the less they have to spend to sell a product the better in their mind. Do not ever take what a pet store does as what you should do. There are some out there that are good, but they are few and far between, always err on the side of caution.
One Snake + One Cage = Better chance of living. Besides, thats what its all about right? The well being of the snakes? Or is it more something else, like... seeing how cute they are cuddling (aka, fighting for the best spot)?
Ok, I am off my soap box now.

???
I am by no means arguing with the experts, as my only knowledge was gained by experience. My husband had a ball python a few years before we met, but had to give him up because he was in the military. So, after we'd lived together for a while, he expressed his desire to get another one. I was by no means enthusiastic about the idea, as I wasn't crazy about reptiles, but I could see he really wanted one and gave in. I absolutely fell in love, and we now have four, obtained over a period of about 4 years. They all live in a large cage together, and they actually seem to prefer each other's company. We always felt a little bad for our oldest, Crowley, because his sisters acted just like that--little sisters, following him around, and twining around him when he was trying to climb (I assume, trying to get a boost). (let me just say here that we don't actually know their sexes, we just decided on a sex for each of them and named them accordingly. We don't plan to breed them, and after reading the special conditions required for them to breed, have assumed that since we don't provide those amenities, they probably won't take it upon themselves, though if they did, I would certainly be pleased) They continue to sleep in the same hidey-hole together. They'll move around to different hideaways, but they always move together. When I got our latest as a tiny baby, I was afraid to put her in the cage with the others, so kept her in her own cage for about a month, but she was so jumpy! We've never had that problem with any of the others, they're all so sweet, but Lilith would cringe at movements at the other end of a large room, and didn't seem to want to explore at all. I finally decided to supervise a "visit" to the other cage, and she immediately explored the whole tank, and then curled up with the others. She never flinches now, and seems completely content. You think our snakes are actually desperately unhappy with all the company?
