Just thought I'd put up a link for the NBA fans out there. go to NGA GFX and there are quite a few cool ones there, and the site owner also takes requests and does great work. All the sigs and Avatars there are his work. |

i have a question about this. is there any rule about using someone's pic or copywritten material or anything as an avatar?

if you go to his hompage, the one i linked, and scroll down he asks that if you use his creations you don't claim them as your own, and that you give him credit for them. I'm giving him some credit right here in this post but might stick a link in my sig too, just so he gets all the credit he deserves. I think he does great work.

but you are using shane's bandwidth by linking to the photo rather than just uploading it here and inserting it from the gallery.
I think..... but i could be wrong.
I had a picture link that was on my server and my site bandwidth went through the roof. Got like 24,000 hits in one month. everytime someone opened a thread with that pic, it also used up my sites bandwidth.
So i could be wrong and it could just be using someone else's bandwidth at AOL.

just remember about something called the copyright and trademark laws in this country.
we dont want any of you guys getting sued for using copyrighted materials.

Mine was taken from a site that simply asks that you give them credit as I did in my signature. As far as uploading, can you upload a sig? My avatar is uploaded. But a sig, I'm pretty sure I've never seen a way to upload one? Only to link from another site (I guess that could be called uploading from another site)

My biggest issue is the shear size of the pictures used.
Noone wants to read posts that have less content than a signature block.
Several posts like that on one thread and it really isn't a thread, just a long drawn out boring commercial.
