Putting an End to Rattlesnake Round-ups
The best way to stop rattlesnake round-ups is to cut off the money. We need to find out who or which companies are sponsoring these events, boycott their products and write letters. I don't know who is sponsoring the Georgia round-ups but here is something I found regarding round-ups in Alabama:
Quote:
Opp Jaycees prepare for Rattlesnake Rodeo time
By Jeffery L. Biggs
Snakes, snakes and more snakes will again be the star attraction at the 45th Annual Opp Jaycees Rattlesnake Rodeo this March, but there will be some things a little different.
Unicel has also come on board this year as a corporate sponsor for the Rattlesnake Rodeo, and Unicel Representative Tonya McCurley said the company was glad to be a part of one of Alabama's longest-running and most well-known events.
"Unicel is excited about participating in the Rattlesnake Rodeo," McCurley said. "This is a great family event that shines the spotlight on South Alabama in a positive way."

If you use or have a Unicel product stop. Write or call Unicel to voice your displeasure about this event that they are sponsoring.

I believe that Budweiser is also a sponsor of the Sweetwater Roundup.

I don't think that many of the sponsors even realize what they actually are. They go by the description that is given to them by the coordinators.

I would guess you're right on that assumption BW. I'm sure if people were to write them and tell them why they were boycotting their products and inform them of what a rattlesnake roundup really is they would back out of future sponsorship

Sending them pictures would help too. Printed images included in aletter would do much more than email images. OF course, both is best. I should have lots of images from the upcoming roundup.
