Well, im a senior this year, and i decided a long time ago that im gonna be a vet for herps. I'm still not sure how much one would make dealing with herps, but the herp vets around here seem to be getting enough....70 bucks for a checkup....lol. ( i know that doesnt go directly to them) I figure i wont be making too much when i start, but just the joy of being able to work with what i love each day is enough for me. I'd hate to have to sit behind a desk for 8 hrs a day.
And if you arent up for being in college forever, you could always do something with zoos, or a vet tech. I dont think vet techs have to go for as long, cuz they dont do the surgery and stuff of the sort.
But yea...i dont really know many jobs off the top of my head, but check out: http://www.asih.org/pubs/herpjobs.htm
it will give you some ideas and yearly salaries.
Good luck!

Genrally speaking, careers with herps and good money do not go hand in hand. Careers with herps are hard enough to come by as it is, and most pay very low. Venomous keepers at the Atlanta Zoo only get about $6.50 an hour. That is not enough to live on in most places.

Ah, so it is best to have herps as just a hobby and have a good paying job to support it all?

That is what most people do, even some of the more well known breeders. If you can even get to the point where the herps pay for themselves, you are doing great. Money is just a bonus when working with herps. Most do it because they love it.

I was thinking about this same question a little while ago, trying to figure out what job I would be able to do that I would enjoy and make...some...money at. I decided to go into teaching and thats what I'm gonna aim for once I decide where I'm gonna go for college...NEXT YEAR..gah..but anyway..I'm gonna keep reptiles and art as a side hobby and I may fall onto art/interior design when I don't want to teach anymore or vice versa. Teachers don't really make that much money but I have never been the type to really spend money on random things...except for stuff for my animals..but I don't consider that random..they are my babies! haha.
