green iguana fire
i keep my juvenile iguana in my bedroom so as to avoid problems with the 5 footer who is free roaming.today i let the juvenile out of his cage for some excersise and left the bedroom closing the door behind me. Shortly thereafter, the lights in the living room flickered and my wife went to investigate. Which prompted scream for me to get in there! As i entered the bedroom i could immediately smell burnt plastic. my lizard had climbed onto the laundry basket to do his business unfortunately, the laundry basket was against the wall at a wall socket. The hapless iguana peed against the wall which ran into the wall socket causing a direct short and igniting the plastic child proof plug in the outlet. Whether he was shocked or not we will never know but he certainly was startled. When we came into the room he was standing up as tall as he could in his bad boy don't mess with me posture. He certainly looked freaked out, but seems to have no lasting effects. Total damage to the bedroom was limited to a fried wall outlet which will have to be replaced and smoke damaged wall which i may or may not paint!
Oh those wacky reptiles.

I would say you have one lucky iguana... If you let your iguanas freeroam, you need to take evrey precaution possible. Mark this one up as a learning experience and double check eberything from here on out. What can happen might just haopen..

Anyone remember the episode of Ren & Stimpy.. where Sven (Rens cousin) and Stimpy were playing 'Don't Whiz on the Electric Fence' then Ren did?
Hehehe
Ya, not a good idea to leave the critters free roaming without supervision
