Here's a neat trick
This is something I just read in my reptile magazine. Ever have a problem with applying medication to scales and it rubs off as they move around and it never really sets in. I'm interested on your thoughts on this but some vets use a non lubricated condom to help. The cute the tip and the bottom off. Pull out as much as need to cover over the in this case rotted scales. The apply the medicine. Cover it with the condom, then they taped both ends of the condom so the medicine isn't rubbed off. I know, rubbed, condom..hehe....Anyways, seem like it would work farely well. What do you guys and gals think??

My biggest concern is the possible damage to the scales from the tape.
Secondary would be if the snake wasn't kept with a water bowl too small to fit in and liquids were trapped under the sleeve making the condition worse....
Then we have the issue of size as a boa is a lot larger than say.. a king snake..
I don't know of ANY guy that really wants to go looking for super small condoms.. not even the story of 'I have a small snake' would explain it well enough..

That must be why they sell "Jumbo's" now. I knew there had to be another reason!

Re: Here's a neat trick
I've used liquid band-aid to keep topical meds in place. Seems to work well.

Personally, I don't like the idea at all. It doesn't allow the wound to breathe - and for someone who isn't familiar with redressing wounds and decides to just leave it, it could cause more harm by hiding in an infection. I haven't used liquid band-aid yet, but that seems to be the best solution right now. When I was dealing with those two ripped apart boas they could not be stitched or otherwise dressed, so I used an antibiotic cream intended to pack gunshot wounds and severe burns - which can't be dressed easily either. It formed a "crust" on the surface of the hole, and sealed it up. All in all it worked very well.

Any particular brand, John?
The few I have tried on myself, never held up quite like their claims stated.

Would you use ribbed just for keeled scale snakes or for extra grip on arboreals?
