My somewhat bizarre week
Sunday night I was reading about the meaning of the lyrics to Faith No More's song "Land of Sunshine". Most of the song is taken from self-help infomercials and fortune cookies. One of the fortune cookie lines is "Sing and rejoice, fortune is smiling upon you". The next day I have my hand in my jacket pocket and I feel a piece of paper, so I pull it out and it's a fortune. Guess what it says......"Sing and rejoice fortune is smiling on you." That's kinda wierd. I bought a lotto ticket that night, didn't win anything. On the 20th, I visited Stangnet.com. When I logged in it showed my Last visited date. Guess what day it was, Nov. 20th, 2002, exactly 1 year to the day. Another kinda wierd thing. Yesterday in the Michael Jackson post, I changed Rick James' "Super Freak" to Circus Freak (I am so dang witty) and about an hour later saw Rick JAmes on TV defending Michael Jackson. Again kinda wierd. Today, in Kelly's post about the passing of Bonehead, I mentioned my Yellow Collared Macaw. I just got back from the vet with him about an hour ago. After that post I decided to take him in the shower with me. I put him up on the shower curtain rod and he fell right off the other side. He hit pretty hard when he landed. I picked him up and he seemed a little wierd. I put him back in his cage. He went to the bottom and I noticed his right leg was just sticking down between the bars on the cage floor. Oh man he hurt his leg. I took my shower and when I got out, I could hear hin squawking so I went to see what was wrong. I reached in to get him and he freaked out. I pulled my hand out and saw there was blood all over it. Apparently he broke all his tail feathers when he fell, 2 of which were blood feathers. I put quick stop on his backside to stop the bleeding. Then I noticed that leg was sticking out sideways and he was shaking. I took him to the emergency vet. They pulled the piecs of the blood feathers and told me that they were concerned about the leg and the way he was shaking. No kidding, so am , what should I do about it? They don't have an avian specialist so all they could tell me was keep him warm and make sure he eats and drinks. Well duh. On the way home, he was laying on his side on the bottom of the cage, shaking and that one leg just kept kicking. I was sure I was going to be making a post in the RIP section tonight. I got him home and set up a cage for him. He is standing up and the shcking has stopped but the leg is still sticking out. Hopefully he'll be ok and I will take him to the real vet on Monday. Anyways, that was my week.
