I've never had either, but I have heard that some are tame, and some are not, for both species. If you're worried about temperment, I think I'd go for a BRB, only because they are a lot smaller and easier to handle if they are nasty.

Well, I've heard both can be somewhat nippy, but BRBs tend to tame down as they get older. I don't know about bloods. Of course, it also depends on what type of blood you get. I'd go with reptilemama, get a BRB, as they will be easier to handle when they're in a bad mood. Both require high humidity, and it sounds like their temperament is somewhat similar to Borneos. So, start with the one that's easier to handle. In time, when you get more experience, move up to bloods.

BRBs rule...I would choose them because they are pretty and don't look like overgrown slugs and they are nice to hold and hang out with. Adult bloods thrash side to side like a freshly caught tuna....and they lay eggs...ick. Neither species are suitable for beginners though. Temp and Humidity requirments are very strict for both. If you get a BRB, never allow the temp anywhere in the cage to go over 85-87 and make sure there is always a hide on both sides. The cool side should be in the mid 70s. I think most brb captivity deaths are due to overheating and underfeeding. Forget the girth rules with these snakes. They need ONE prey item about 1 1/2 times the widest girth. Newborns eat rat pinks or hopper mice just like a baby bci despite the fact that they are much thinner.

Blood Python of course! Come on Jules you know Blood's ROCK! As has been said here Bloods and BRB's both require high humidity. As far as temperment goes I've seen docile and nippy species in both. In fact one of my first bites was from a Blood. Heres a pic of a girl I had for a while she was as calm as a puppy. Actually she was too calm never had her feed on her own.

Raaarj2 I don't keep bloods I just had this girl for a while trying to get her to eat for a buddy of mine but she was too stubborn and never ate anything on her own. If ya really want to know how bloods are talk to Ritchie of Ritchie's Reptiles he's kept Bloods for quite a while. I'm just partial to pythons.
