Lonely?
answer me this o knowledgeable ones....
snakes... already we know more about their farting abilities but what about the loneliness of snakes?
yes... loneliness... this is the only way i can think of to describe it... seems to me snakes in the wild must get very lonely because...
our two boas spend most of their time together, they curl up together, they follow each other... they seem to like each others company which seems odd for an animal that in the wild spends its whole life living alone...
they even lay together with their heads side by side very often... are snakes telepathic over very short distances? (say, an inch or two) are they.... talking ?
do snakes get lonely? i think they must do judging by my ones.
poor wild snakes. :'(

I do not think that they get lonely. I think the behavior you are describing is competition for prime basking spots, prime hiding spots, or just faborable places to be.

Favorite even morti!
Yah, what he said, which is why it's best to have them living seperately.. stress.
If you have to house them together, provide seperate warm spots, hides etc so they can have their own spot.

yeah...it sure is cute to see them laying together like that, but like Morti and Eddie have said...it's just not best for them.

Ok, but what if snakes can communicate? And we don't know it because it's beyond humans. Mine do the same thing, and I have more than one hiding spot. Maybe he's on to something.

I've never thought about this, but, I don't see why snakes couldn't communicate subtlely where it's not as obvious to humans. I don't know if they would communicate vocally, as they are said to be able to hear to some degree and feel vibrations. Even if they did, I'm sure it would be used at a minimum, as opposed to other signals that a snake's other senses would respond better to, such as sight and scent. For example, the vibrations from a snake rattling its tail on the ground and/or the smell of musk may warn other snakes nearby that there's a predator in the area. Or, perhaps a threat pose or even biting would be a way to tell other snakes to back off. Just something to ponder.

perhaps we should all conduct an experiment,,,,.... let's all put a pen and a pad of paper in our vivs for say... i dunno... 24 hours or so... and see if they write anything down... we could head the first page for them.... we could put something like:
'As your owner i am always striving to attain the highest possible standards for your encloser, if however you feel there are issues that need addressing or points you would like to raise about feeding, temperatures or humidity please feel free to air them. As your owner i will take any sugesstions very seriously and will do everything i can to meet any further requirements you may have. Love (fill in as applicable)'
...i wonder if they'd prefere fountain or ball points.... hmmmmm.....

Honestly,
Your two snakes should never be "lonely" as long as your around to take care of them and handle them.

Ah, yeah well... that's a good point and handled they do get... usually i get them out together and fondle them (not like that!)
they're only babbies about.. hmmm... four months old... brother an sister according to probage...
they really seem to like being together! i know people have said about competing for the best hidy places in the viv... but i have a tree in my room... goes right up to the ceiling... actually it arches cos it's too high for the ceiling... anyway... put em both on it and they'll curl up together somewhere in it... everytime... call that coincidence? cos i don't.
same in the viv... let me have a look see where they are now... flip flopperin' typical! they're in different places! *HOW DARE YOU MAKE A MOCKERY OF MY ARGUMENT MONKEY AND DONKEY!*
and yes... that's their names... don't blame me blame my girlfriend she's odd.
*edit* just edited the swear word out cos i'm nice and not at all bad mannered honest guv'
