herp clubs

i wasn't sure where to post this, sorry if it's wrong

are there any herp clubs around central florida?
i've checked the web and the only sites i found are old and i got no answers back from emails

no luck in the phone book

called the local community college and they didn't know what i was talking about

am i just looking in the wrong places?

where abouts in central fl are you looking?? I know that there is something here in Jax... but don't know the details... Central Florida Herp Society

some counties even have their own society.

i'm in sanford it's near lake mary and orlando

what's the difference between clubs and societies?

the central florida herp society site is old, i had tried that one several times even before i got my snakes

Herp societies are usually affiliated (loosely) with a museum or nature center or university and are most often invloved in active conservation projects etc.

I beleive Volusia county has a herp society. I used to live in Orlando, so I know where Sanford is.

I know Dr. Elliot Jacobson, one of the most respected authorities on herp medicine, is a fellow at the university of Florida.

This site was last updated more than a year ago, but it lists over 20 herp societies in Florida:

Surely one of them is still functioning...
