Well, it was bound to happen...
I can no longer say that none of my snakes have bitten me. All my fault, just got a case of the stupids, I guess. I was on the phone, so my attention was diverted. I had fed my Ball Python and needed to put her back in her home tank.
I hadn't washed my hands and when I reached for her, she got my finger. Bled a bit, startled me a lot, but not really much to take a photo of.
I guess I'm part of the club now.

Wow, another bp bite on here? What's this world coming to? (maybe I can antagonize one of my rosy boas into nailing me too? LOL!!!)

Re: Well, it was bound to happen...
welcome to the club dude.
when my snakes are in feed mode, which is from when they smell a rodent until a bit after eating (could even be a day or 2 after), it doesnt matter if they smell it on you or not, anything with a heat signature is a possible meal to them.
i feed inside their enclosures though.

Re: Well, it was bound to happen...
Nothing really to take a pic of...just a few pin-prick marks...and the adjoining scratches where I reflexively jerked away.
I'm considering feeding in their home enclosures, especially when I have my new cages finished and everyone moved in.

I always fed my snakes in their cages, and it worked great for me. Of course, I did get hit by one of my carpet pythons once. But he could always tell food was coming from a mile away.
Congratulations in advance on the new cages.

Re: Well, it was bound to happen...
Lol I didn't have to wait long. Had a boa that would randomly hiss while holding her. She turned back and tapped my arm. Congrats.

A ball python bit you? I'm sure you must be mistaken.

Nope. The most docile, laid back snake ever and she bit me. I had handled the thawed mice to dry them off, though, and didn't was my hands after the fact. She is my most voracious eater, believe it or not. I was warm and smelled like dinner. I was asking for it.

Re: Well, it was bound to happen...
Well, look on the bright side - it was a ball and not a GTP or a timber rattler, cobra, or full grown saltwater croc. Or a hyena.....or a female human - I hear those bite and don't let go for years.
