Dr. Fry of the Australia Venom Lab and one of the most knowledgable people ont he planet about venom and toxinology has agreed to do an interview. You can view his site at http://www.venomdoc.com to learn about him.
Let's have some questions for him, they can be advanced or basic. From "How did you get into snakes?" to "Have you found there to be variations in the neurotoxic concentrations of Dendroaspis polylepis geographically?" I plan on picking his brain.
Between him and Sean Bush, these are two of the greatest minds of herpetology alive, take advantage of the opportunity.

What's his favorite and least favorite to work with?

What's his opinion on Irwin?
Since that started one of the greatest debates here, why not ask him too?

As a site we ought to work up a list of Standardized questions, then when an interview becomes available, try to tailor some more specific questions for the interviewee...

Wow, that is sweet!
Man I wish I knew more about venomous snakes so I could ask good questions...
how about...
Does he agree that king cobras are the most 'intelligent' snakes?
Is there any species he won't work with?
Has he been bitten?
Which does he believe has evolved the best (to be the most advantagous) rear-fanged
or front-fanged species?
What is his favorite non-venomous snake?

I would like to know what additional medical applications they have found for snake venoms, I know B. Haast was working on a treatment for M.S. from the venom of a species of Callaselasma.
Is he aware of any others?

What is the variability of hemotoxins vs. neurotoxins between various species of Crotalus? Of course the Mojave rattlesnake's venom is known for it's neurotoxic properties but recently I've heard there is evidence that Crotalus viridis exhibits some variability of neurotoxins between different populations also.
Has there been an objective LD50 list compiled of the various venomous snakes around the world starting with the most deadly? There always seems to be controversy from one book or television program to another as to which snakes are the most venomous...and appears subjective depending on if the information was gathered in Australia, Africa, Latin America, etc.

How did he get to become a spokesman for Midwest Tongs? Has he worked with their R&D department to develop better products for us herpers? If so what changes has he suggested or would he suggest the company make? Sorry I just am curious cause they're right up the road from me. Since he has worked with Oshea what is his oppinion of him? What does he think of all the anti herp legislation going around. What does he think about the the export ban on Australia's native herps? Is there a species that really makes him nervous, and keeps him more on his toes than others?
OK I don't know what of all this you'll want to use but there are my ideas.

Ok since he's been on a lot of TV shows... How does he feel television has possitively and negatively influenced herps and herping. What made him decide to appear on all those shows?
And as a side bar... I read alittle about his wife in an issue of reptiles mag. Would she be interested in doing an interview to put her perspective on many of the same questions? And does he feel, as many I know do, that she is really an unsung hero in his adventures.
See BW I may have given you another interview to do?
