Forum Feud?

So whats the deal with the feud between Reptile Haven and Kingsnake exactly? When I first joined this site and would see the occasional comment or slam I thought it was just kinda joking or friendly rivalry between the two forums, but I've learned its a bit more real than that. I was talking to Kevin Hanley today (yup, lives not more than 20 mins from my home) and he was going to email me something. I had to give him my secondary email address because he absolutelly Refused to send an email through the server here. I was a bit confused since he has always been a totally nice guy and it seemed very unlike him until he made some comment about how the two sites don't get along and something about certain members being 'bad people' or something like that. Whats the deal? Did something happen back in the day? I mean he refuses to send email through these servers, he made some comment about certain members over here not being allowed to be members on kingsnake and some other things. I'm so confuzzled.

If anyone ever mentions another herp forum over on KS.. you get banned. Why? *shrug* That is why this forum exists.

There is no fued Squirgle. If you ask me the whole thing is rather assinine anyway. Do this...read around on the post here and see if you see mention of Kingsnake. Now people may mention it as "that other site" but you won't see people being banned from RH for posting anything about kingsnake, and that includes links. Now go over to kingsnake and post a link to here. I would venture to say that the post won't stay up long.
Also, saying that there are bad members here is like saying the sky is blue. I guess over in kingsnake-land everyone is pure and clean? [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img] Not likely. There are good and bad people EVERYWHERE you go. There is no majority here or there.
I will tell you I occasionally go to KS, although I don't post. There are people here that think this site is better and there that think the same. That's personal prefernce.

I for one frequent this and several other forums including KS. Just like here there are some bad people and some good people. I come here for the community aspect, everyone here seems like a big family, right down to the ribbing some people get for saying or doing some pretty stupid things. I go to KS to share the little bit of knowledge that I have. It seems that KS gets a lot of people that are new to the hobby and need pointing in the right direction which is something that this site does not get quite as often. From the bits and pieces that I have come across in chatting with people is that the "Feud" is one sided and limited to a very select few people on that side and I may not agree with them but I dont go to that site to support those people I go there to give support for the people that are in need of help or information.

The "fued" as it were was before my time, so I can't really comment on it, though if you search, there is a big explanation on an old post here that explains it, I think it is like the story of how this site came to be. I for one prefer the forums here, generaly I, IMHO, find them to be more mature and centered on community and information, where the KS forums tend to be a little more immature, and mostly full of ppl posting pics and asking for others to tell tehm how great thier stuff is and how cool they are. I still pop into them once in a while, and still frequent the classifieds there. I don't hate KS, just got tired of the same old threads and all the "Look how cool my quadruple het for some made up BP morph snake is" posts. Still some good and knowledgable ppl there, as well as here. This site just has a feel more akin to what I was looking for in a group of herpers and enthusiasts.

	Heterozygous Heterozygous - the animal carries the gene for a genetic trait but does not outwardly demonstrate the trait. Example: A boa that is het for albino looks normal but carries the albino gene. When it is bred to another het for albino boa or an albino boa, a percentage of the offspring will be albino.

	Morph A morph is a color or pattern variation that is proven to be genetic. Common morphs include albino, anerythristic, gentically striped, Hypomelanistic, and many others. Morphs also include combinations of simple traits such as "Sunglow" which is Albino and Hypomelanistic. I actually just reacently started checking out the "other" forums, just to see what all the talk was about. I do have to say on the other site, there are almost No intellegent life forms present. Seems like every other post there was from someone who did an impulse buy, and wanted to know how to take care of it. I think as most of you know about me, and many others here that is a MAJOR pet peeve. Most people giving advice are even more clueless than the person asking about it. Needless to say I really don't go there anymore. I'm all for helping people, but theres a point when enough is enough.
Plus what doesn't help matters any is the fact that the "other" site wants to be the only game in town. When they dont allow any other sites linking , and allow pure stupidity at times without correction, thats where the masses of the uneducated gather. We don't allow their links just to be fair, they don't allow ours, so we won't allow theirs. Plus if we allow theirs it would be free advertising for them. It does bother me that memebers of the CHS do go to the "other" site. But for the handles that I know are theres they stay out of the help forums it seems.
I definately prefer this site. Yes there are some oppinionated people here but for the most part it is for the good of the hobby not just to be mean. I believe we have a lot more QUALITY posts than any other site. Even if someone never posted a question, if the felt like going through old topics the majority of their questions would be answered. We don't get many frivelous posts. Sometimes that seems like a slow forum, but thats the great think about RTB. With the features on here the forums don't turn into a chat room like on other sites. We have the Instant Messenger for that, and a chat room. So we can keep the forums, more for helping that just talking.

I think their biggest concern over there is the classifieds business. They charge their members to post anything for sale. We do not. So we are conceived as a threat to their income and they prefer their members not know we exist. Thats what started the whole thing...no bad words exchanged. No bad info or anything anyone did...just money. plain and simple. Greed outweighed Helping the herp community once again.
