Threads dont get very long on these boards...most topic have just a few responses and a lot of lurkers and then the thread quitely but swiftly fades away. Why no in-depth discussions?

There are lots of in depth discussions here, maybe just not current ones. Maybe it is oo nice outside to be writing very much. Winter they get long, nothing else to do I think that it also has to with the tipics. Many questions are asked about monthly. After giving long responses a dozen times, I think a lot of the veterans have the info down tot the Reader's Digest version.

Many times, if a thread is too long, it gets over-looked and not read. I myself, depending on the time I have available, will not indulge in reading really long threads unless it is of interest to me. My life is busy as it is, with the animals, children, career, etc..often times, I can only get online late at night, and by that time, I am often too tired to read through a long post. Now, that is just me, but from my experiences here, I find that others feel the same.
At times, by keeping a post or thread short and sweet and to the point, you will have a better response.
Just my .02!

One of the biggest problems we have is that after awhile, we can't find the topics because of poorly written topic titles like this one. Usually, I won't even open topics without a better clue as to what the content is but I was bored and wanted to rant

Okay, my term to think. I think it is because people read a post and see that it's answered by the usuals' and no other opinions are offered. I'd like to see people offer there opinions by there experiences with there own snakes. That's how I learned so much. I regret that posts aren't longer. good comment though!!!

Hey "lockedfree" want your thread to be a long one? Say something controversial, or bring up something that people have strong opinions on and you'll see that thread go and go.
Here are a few suggestions for topics that will get LOTS of replies
"I love to feed live feed to my snake"
"I can feed cats and puppies to my snake cant I?"
"All snakes are inferior to redtails right?"
"I just bought a Burm, is a fish bowl big enough housing for life?"
Things like that ought to get you some replies!

Heres a good one:
"I just got a pair of burms for my 14th birthday. I want to breed them and give them to all my neighbor friends. How much should I charge?"

"because of poorly written topic titles like this one. "
-- Guilty as charged.
"Try starting a controversial thread"
-- I DID! See the "cats" thread under "feeding". I guess I'm just not a very good troll
"if a thread is too long, it gets over-looked and not read"
-- I look for the longest threads because to have survived so long, they must be about something interesting!
"What's wrong with that Julius Squeezer guy anyway?"
-- I dunno, can someone answer this please?

Another reason why threads fade is because of the meaningless posts. Such as...
