Whats bad is that some pet stores either don't know or won't tell you the adult size of you snake.

Ain't that the truth Countryboy. One of the local herp shops claim they only get 12-14 feet as adults. He also says that a BCI/BCC will only get about 6-7', huh what joke. Needless to say this guy gets no business from me, I won't even buy feeders from him.

LMAO Justme !
Umm.. I can see the point of that page BUT I can also see the "interpretational" affects of the statement regarding killing family members by certain people also. Such a statemnt should NOT be placed like that in the public eye. It will only help to promote the negativity surrounding reptile keeping that we all have to deal with in keeping. I understand what the person is trying to convey here BUT me thinks they also need to do it in a more tactful manner with a bit more information to that statement even. Just MHO

Lori, I totally agree with you. I recognized that while reading the little page. I've heard enough of snake add harm to your family and snakes killing people. Why do people have to be so negative about reptiles? Maybe if the community started hiring people and only giving license to people that actually know about reptiles, we could live happy. Until then, we have to put up with all these rumors.

I am 13 and I go to Middle School right now, and eveyone at my school teachers and students think that snakes are horrbile mean evil creatures. I feel pity for those people because snakes are one of the greatest creatures. Because if you have one stray around house you dont feel sorry for it and feed it. Also if you have a garden and mice the snake eats the mice so the mice doesnt eat your garden. My aunt just found 3 blk snakes in her flower gardern yesterday and called my cousin to come get em out. SHes terrified of them. She wanted him to kill them, hes terrified of them too but he didnt kill him he threw in in the woods. But his brother shot a blk snake last year cause hes terrified of em. I feel sorry for the snakes that are killed by stupid misknowing people.
As for Burmese Pythons, They are good snakes as long as you are prepared for their sized, and can handle them enough to keep them associated and calm to handling and humans. I am soon to get me a burmese python, I love them they have beautiful markings, and are large but dont get aggressive like retics and anancondas.
As for burms attackin people, its not the snakes fault, its the peoples, they should know better and should keep large snakes if they arent gonna be responsible enough to make sure cage is closed and not to keep them far away from reach of people inexperienced with snakes and away from small kids. I have owned snakes since i was 10 and my 5 and 9 year old cousins frequantly handle my snakes as long as i am around.
I am a responsible owner and I wont let no kid younger than 13 hold any snake of mine that is over 5 foot long( only 1 is that big at moment)unless i am totally acustomed to that snake and that snake is acostumed to being handled. I have a red tail boa not quit 5 foot yet, she can be a hand ful for just me cause she likes to nip lightly when first retrieved out of cage.
For everyone with snakes, keep them locked up, secure, and out of reach of everyone except people with good knowledge of snakes.
JESSY
Peace!

Well...
I acually have been pondering about gettin a burm...
I told a friend about my wishes and he has been tryin
to sell me on not doin it ever since!
one of his reasons was that when he gets bigger I wont
be able to play with him and then #$%^$%^$%^$%^& get mean!
but Im still lookin forward to Buildin a huge cage and
actually goin and gettin one... but I am still goin to be
a smart Herper and wait a while to safely reason out all
of the facts. Ill probabbly wait till I get a house though...
because my apt is just to small for:
me, my6ftjpc, 5month Call king and babby Ball.
especially a Berm...
yeah Ill wait till I get a house....
Peace.
