50 people busted. More to come. Federal and State DNR from Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan flooded the show and served search warrants for both vendor's booths and homes. The homes were searched at the same time that the raid was happening. 3 more states have running investigations and there are a lot more busts to come. Information was provided regarding those under suspicion by people pretending to be vendors and buyer for the past year or so. They specifically went around looking for "questionable" animals. The NARCs apparently gathered info and specific warrants were issued for individuals prior to the raid. I know of people that were busted for box turtles, black rats, garters, cornsakes, and Eastern Indigos. Several sources told me Hamper is amoung the busted.
All this is first hand info relayed to me by those present during the raid. Hoefully it is pretty accurate.

Yahoo News story.
Looks like they plan on releasing many of the animals back into the wild, which is not as great of a plan as they believe....

There's a thread about this over on the BOI. Sounds like some of the animals seized weren't even what the officers/agents thought they were, so they may in fact be releasing non-natives into the wild. Smart, eh?

I bought my 2nd BP today from the shop who was there yesterday. They got 4 BP's (my new one) and a boa and a albino boa (not sure which type each).
She said that a lot of the talk was about the parie dog outbrake has them up in a steer and they were going after those without a licence.
She is trying to get a show around here.
Also, a large number of dealers were not there that were usually in Columbus.
My new BP (well, my 5yo thinks it is his) looks very healthy.
