I recently noticed that at least two of my boas are gaining new speckles and those that they have are getting wider... anybody else have boas that are/have done this as they grow up?
Just curious...

There is a IMG that is common in some species of snakes, but most its ontogenetic.
(increasing melanin gene)
not sure about in boas though.

Lots of colubrids get darker as they get older, many ratsnakes, some ball pythons, bullsnakes, red ear sliders.
its not all that rare really.

Yes my columbia is like that also...It seems that with every shed she seems to get a few more small black speckles. The one's on her under side just seem to get latger and the one's near her tail are blending into each other.
