I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it anywhere. I know to grow plants there has to be something close to sunlight to promote this. Do these bulbs have enough UVA, UVB for lizards? Mainly asking for Bearded Dragons. The boxes don't give a spectrum listing, so I was just wondering if anyone really knew for sure. The bulbs I'm talking about are the incandescent flood lamps. Any help would be appreciated.

I seem to remember a discussion about this on a chamleon list I used to belong to. I beleive it was decided that grow bulbs don't produce enough usable UV to be very effective. My new favorite bulb for my beardie and cham are those Active UV heat bulbs. They last a lot longer than flourescents, and they produce heat, too. You just have to make sure you get the correct wattage, because they don't work with a dimmer.

Never heard of them. Do you have a website for them?

Here you go, Ed.
T-Rex
Click on reptile products, and then on Lighting, Heating & Gauges. I've seen this at Petco and Petsmart. I've used Active UV Heat also, not a cheap bulb, but works very well.

Wow they are very proud of those bulbs! How long do they last? Do you have to replace them after like 6 months?

Well, they have a 1 year guarantee, and the bulbs are supposed to last longer than a year. I'm not sure how long the UV output lasts for. My beardie died for other reasons 8 months after I got the bulb, so I never got to find out how long they last.
