Hmmmm....I suspect there are some hunters on the NON-hunting thread. So just because many people need animal protein to survive doesn't mean they delight in the kill. There's a difference. Just like we have to feed rats to snakes. But some people actually enjoy killing rats or watching them die.

Re: For the NON-hunting crowd......
Hunters are the same way though, they don't necessarily kill a deer because they enjoy watching it die. The majority of hunters will shoot and then kill the animal quickly if it wasn't killed with the shot. There is that disgusting few however that enjoy watching something suffer, just like in the reptile world.
PS - I'm not a hunter, but I'm also not against hunting.

Re: For the NON-hunting crowd......
I think a clean shot from a rifle is probably more humane than the way most animals are actually slaughtered in mass production. It's just hard for me to understand how one could get any kind of joy from doing it and consider it a sport.

Re: For the NON-hunting crowd......
I don't call my hunting a sport. I call it putting meat on the table because, in my humble opinion, store-bought meat is far too packed with god-knows what in the way of growth hormones and what have you and in a way you're just paying someone else to do your dirty work and Lord knows what the animal went through before being processed.
I've been born and raised on venison, and venison is what I'll continue to eat and hunt for, and there are some years I don't even get anything, but see countless animals out in their natural habitat. There's enjoyment in being out in nature for me, if I get something, I make absolutely sure I can take a clean shot before I even take it.
I find no 'joy' in killing and I find it extremely offensive that someone would think so. Surprising as it may seem, there are thousands of hunters out there that enjoy threads like this just as much as the average joe. I, for one, love seeing deer in my backyard and I will not hunt them on my property just so they feel they have a safe place to be.
Shocking, no?
Sorry for the rant. I get riled when I see stereotyping all hunters as people who 'kill for fun'.

Re: For the NON-hunting crowd......
I sure enjoyed that video, and will be sharing it. I'm not a hunter, that's for sure... to eat/subsist, fine! for 'sport', just sick, IMO! (-now if they could shoot back, that might be sporting...)

Re: For the NON-hunting crowd......
hey hey hey, folks, settle down.
this is NOT a debate on is hunting right or wrong.
We all know that some on here hunt and some dont.
There is NO reason to get all defensive over this terribly cute video.
I posted it for pleasure NOT to pick fights

I hunt and love animals. I do not consider it a sport. I view it as a tradition. My whole family hunts. We do it as a family thing and split all the venison between all of us.

A good clean kill is the whole thing. Fast and hopefully painless.

We see probably 25-30 deer pass us before we even consider a shot.

I personally think that the title was a lil misleading but the vid says a lot more than most other people could imagine.

Re: For the NON-hunting crowd......
Well, any thread like this by default usually turns into a debate. HOWEVER, it is Chad's thread and we should respect his wishes and keep it about the cuteness!!

In keeping with the intended theme of this thread, here is some more cuteness.

For me, I like the taste of wild game better than Cow meat.
Why should I eat meat stuffed with non-meat products?
