Okay I was looking into getting a new digital camera but am not really too sure of what I want. Basically I love taking pictures, this highly includes my animals. The camera I have no is just not good for close ups. Basically I want something that I can take good High Quality close up's with but yet still have good quality "normal" shots. Basically I want to be able to zoom in on my gecko's face but yet still be able to take a picture of a forest at the same time if that makes any sense. I've noticed that some of you can take some extremely awesome pictures *cough cough* boaguy , John white *cough cough* any of your input would be highly appreciated, and would just like to get a general opinion before I head out to look. Thanks in advance.

I just got a Nikon Coolpix 2100 and love it. It has a macro function for close ups and quite a few other features to make picture taking fool proof. Well almost fool proof.

The Nikon Coolpix series is a great digital camera, You can pick up a Nikon coolpix 2500 for about $250 if you shop it right online. What i use is a Nikon Coolpix 950. Most/all ov the coolpix series take great macro shots, and i have found them to ake great "normal" shots also, for lack of better word.

Yeah i know ldy. Actually I went out today and looked around and kinda fell in love w/an olympus. I think i'm going to go up to murphy's camera shop tomorrow and talk to the pro's and get general consensus from them and see what all I can learn while i'm there. Right now Nikon actually has a 200 buck rebate on one of the higher priced cameras. It's normally 700 but that marks it down to 500. Now if only I can convince my mom.
