Get well thread for hissy
My friend Hissy has hurt his back recently and so I wanted to start a thread to let him know we are thinking about him. I may be helping out with the care of his ball pythons and will be asking lots of questions. For instance, how often do you need to mist them?
Please keep hissy in your thoughts and prayers and hope for a speedy recovery.

Re: Get well thread for hissy
Get well soon, Hissy!
.
Depending on where the humidity usually stays will determine how often you mist. Kobi's will drop to about 50% over the course of a few days, so during the winter, once every other day, during the summer, every 3rd day or so, as the humidity is higher during the summer. When she's in shed I mist everyday, like I do with the other snakes. i hope that helps...
.
Edit: If it were possible to keep it consistant, 55-60% is ideal, with 60-70% during shed.

Re: Get well thread for hissy
hopefully hissy can get better soon i keep my balls at 60% humidity and only mist them if it drops below that, or when they are in shed

Re: Get well thread for hissy
I just got an update...Hissy is still in the hospital waiting for surgery. He fractured T4 (4th thoracic vertebra). Fortunately, there was no spinal chord damage and he is expected to make a full recovery. He is in a lot of pain and on morphine. He was in a bicycling accident. His helmet probably saved his life.
I know when he gets out of surgery, it will mean a lot to him to see this thread, so hopefully, everyone will post here.

Re: Get well thread for hissy
Hope hissy feels better as quickly as possible.
Just mist every other day or everyday in shed and you should be fine.

Re: Get well thread for hissy
Star I am sorry to hear about your friend. A back (spinal) injury is no joke at all. Hope he makes a full and fast recovery. I am glad you will be caring for the little snakey darlings.
By the way, on a lighter note - "chord" is a musical term, whereas the length of spinal nerves protected by the vertebrae is the spinal "cord" (as in cord or string). so I understand - unless I need correcting.....

Cute! Veronica doesn't recognize rats when they are lying on the floor of her cage.

My BP hannah does the same thing! I've got to leave her in a tote over night if theres any hope of her eating it. Even then she might not even touch it. It seems like she only wants to eat every couple weeks or so.

Re: Get well thread for hissy
mine loves to eat, just doesnt wanna put the food in his own mouth ive tried using diff sizes of mice and rats, scenting, heating the food up really warm, feeding inside his cage, leaving him in his cage with food overnight, feeding outside his cage, covering him and leaving him for a few hours, leaving him overnight with his food, he just doesnt like to eat on his own
