stray snake in my house!
Well I guess it had to happen eventually living in Florida. I was sittin' on the couch watching T.V. (and looking at all of the gorgeous women in the "girls with snakes" thread...) then out of the corner of my eye I see something sliding towards me. It was an adult black racer, and we saw each other at the same time. He quickly made his way back to the hall bathroom where he was NOT HAPPY to see me follow! He curled up with his back against the tub so he could push against something other than just sliding on the tile. I was going to just grab him, but he was shaking his tail like a rattler, hissing, and struck TWICE faster than I could blink. So, instead of freaking him out anymore and getting snagged myself. I just threw a pillow case over him, let him calm down and wrapped him inside. I took him around the corner to a wooded area and let him go.
My first "herping" experience in my own home! Go figure!
as soon as I can get the couple of pics uploaded I'll add them to this thread.

That's great; congratulations! Black Racers are such beautiful snakes; that must have been a treat to discover him.
I can't wait to see the pictures; thanks for sharing your story!

Luke...
Other then reptiles living here.... it's not that fun here... I'd rather be in the northwest.
Sounds like the racer wanted sanctuary in your house, Justin. No predators and tons of food for him.

Re: stray snake in my house!
I was thinking it was either the warmth ( it was a little cool out ) or maybe it smelled the food I was giving Abby. who knows... I'll have to get the camera to a picture kiosk... my darn computer won't pic it up....

Snake: "I can smell food, do you think they will mind if I stay if I follow him home?"
You just don't know but he's been following you all the why from the feeder store you probable looked like a nice herp.

He was fast enough I could believe it! I'm so used to Abby (BP) moving so slowly, it was great to see a snake with some speed!

America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. – John Quincy Adams (1821)

I thought about that! I only have a spare 30L tank that I use to feed Abby in, and I spent my last few bucks (until tomorrow ) on a couple of rat pups. I wouldn't have been able to give it a proper set up or food for a few days. That just didn't seem fair.
