So sad

I got a call that a snake was in one of the offices here at work so I was excited! YAY, herps at work! It happens often so I was glad today was a day to break the bordom.

However, I got down there and there was a little garter snake wrapped up badly on a glue rat trap. As anyone knows those things are certain death and you will pull a creature to pieces trying to get them off. He was still alive and I had to put the little dude down. It was a fast high to a fast low.

Re: So sad

Yes, cooking oil loosens the glue, so I hear. That is really, really sad though. Thanks for trying to help the little guy.

Was the glue trap set for rats/mice?

Re: So sad

Yeah, set for mice/rats.

I didnt know about the oil...Im in maintenance so my mind automatically went to harsher things like laquer thinner/acetone...stuff I knew would kill/hurt him.

Poor lil dude was so cute.

Re: So sad

Sad story but thanks everyone for the tips on what works to remove them. It's good to know some good can come from this.
