Hurray for Petco!
As many of the rest of you I do not necessarily approve of pet stores, especially petsmart and petco....
but...
HURRAY PETCO!!
Feeding Frozen/Thawed Foods
This is rather exciting in my opinion and a step in the right direction

Re: Hurray for Petco!
That's definetely a step in the right direction, pet-store wise. Promoting f/t feeding to new reptile keepers is definetely a positive push in the right direction!

Re: Hurray for Petco!
Yes I was very happy to find out about this. I stumbled across that page while doing research for a live vs frozen thawed paper in my writing class. I was excited! Cheers for petco!

Re: Hurray for Petco!
I have noticed stickers at our local Petco reptile racks that Ask to feed frozen.
Congrats Petco.
And thank you for the link.

Re: Hurray for Petco!
I found a great f/t supplier here unfortunatly no petco's in this part of the world. Best thing is this guy is even cheaper than buying them live from the local petshop and still having to go through the whole gas ect story.

Yes I agree with everyone - this is great that PetCo published and is advocating F/T feeding!

Re: Hurray for Petco!
Yeah I was really happy to hear that PetCo was doing this. But y'all DO know that PetSmart hasn't sold live feeder mice/rats in YEARS right? I can't count the number of times I or my coworkers have talked people out of live feedings. PetCo is a little behind the times on this one.

Re: Hurray for Petco!
PetSmart's frozen feeders cost a lot more than PetCo's.
The PetCos in Los Angeles have sold frozen feeders for at least two years, because that's where I always bought them when I lived there. Since I moved to Michigan, I've been ordering from Big Cheese, but I just spent about $12 for six pinkie mice for my monitor there. $2 a piece for pinkies? I was spending about 75c a pinkie for my corn when I shopped at PetCo. There are no PetCos around here though.

Re: Hurray for Petco!
-PetCo has been feeding their animals F/T for at least 2 years now, before that I don't know.
-Just because they don't have any for public sale doesn't mean they don't feed their own live, they have a private stock of F/T for their own animals.
G'head, ask me how I know.

Re: Hurray for Petco!
Petco around here has been offering and recommending frozen for quite some time. I know at least one Petco store from about 2 years ago that would not sell live mice/rats as food. Obviously, nothing could stop someone from feeding it to a snake after it was bought, but I was told outright that they were only sold as pets and that they'd refuse sales to those who suggested otherwise.
Petsmart. Last time I looked at frozen pinkies, they had "mice on ice" 4pk for $10. Ridiculous. I'll buy snake sausages first (hahahaha j/k).
I started out feeding my first snake (bp 'Paka' from petco) f/t and the frozen mice were from petco. I've had one snake that would only eat live for a while (Saharan Sand Boa...He'd gone ten months without eating, so finally I dropped in a small mouse purchased locally to see what would happen and he popped out and grabbed it in 30 seconds...)
