Got my cast off!

So as some of you know, I had ligament reconstruction surgery on my left ankle due to a bad injury on a ruck march in like uuuuh... april last year... After getting jerked around for months during AIT, and being told it was a sprain, it's bruised, blah blah blah, xrays, bone scans... I finally saw a dr, who is an orthopedic surgeon/colonel here at Fort Hood... Well, he had me get an MRI and found that the ligaments were all ripped and messed up... No wonder physical therapy wasn't working -_- Well, anyways... I had surgery back in January and was in a cast for 6 weeks -_- I just got my cast off today, THANK GOD! Anyone that has EVER been in any sort of cast will feel my pain on that one, hahaha... It SUCKS! Specially when it hinders your walking and ur as stubborn as I am -_-

But anyways... I'm in my "robo boot" now and can walk around... It deff. gets sore though pretty quick since I haven't used my ankle in a couple months >.< So now I get to wear the boot thing for I guess a month, 2 months... Until my Dr tells me I don't have to, haha... Physical therapy starts again soon so I can get my full range of motion back... My Dr said that my ankle deff. feels alot more normal and resistant like it should instead of flopping all over the place, haha...

So this is good news! Hopefully within a few months or so I'll be able to be almost back to full duty... He said it's usually between 6-9 months of FULL recovery time before I can run and have hopefully no more issues... But we shall see! Depending on how quick I heal up, they may send me over to Iraq for the rest of the deployment... So if I'm better by early fall then I'll be going to the sandbox till January when my unit gets back... AND hopefully my hubby can get his transfer in before I go, IF I go, so that we can finish my units deploy together

Nice thing about being married is that they try to deploy you together if that's what u want...

Anyways... I'll stop rambling! Just thought I'd update everyone... I'm so happy to be out of that cast!!!

wow time flies!! i remember when you first got the surgery, im glad to hear your getting better!! isnt is GREAT to get rid of the crutches?

OMG yes... I HATED using them... They make ur arms so sore, and I don't care how good of shape the Army gets u in... Crutches = muscle failure pretty quick

Maybe I'll be able to max out my PT test though
