OMG they are taking over.
Man when i agreed to start getting snakes I never thought Snakes would over run the house. We now have a total of 5 snakes. 2 Red Tails, 2 Ball Pythons, & 1 Garter Snake. Its come to the point where the tanks have made it out of the bedroom and into the front room. (What were we thinking?)
Dont get me wrong We love our snakes and give them the best care but man i tell you having more snakes then kids relly kinda blows me away. If i was told a year ago this was going to happen i would have laughed and walked away.

Didn't your wife create a thread the other day about getting a burm? Might wanna re-think that if you're already feeling this way... lol

Re: OMG they are taking over.
I agree with the burm issue... I wouldn't get it... Even though it's a good deal, I still wouldn't... And don't worry, 5 snakes isn't THAT bad... Specially since 3 of them will stay fairly small You just have the 2 boas that will be big...
I know how ya feel though... I can't say we feel "over run" But I never thought I would have gotten into boas the way I have... Let alone find a hubby that loves them as much as I do We love our snakes, but other then the Sharp that's comming in, we know that until we have a bigger house *at the end of the year* we have quite enough snakes that require big cages for right now It's all about finding a happy medium... We have our DH snow pair that we plan to breed, the DH kahl and sharp sunglow pairs that we plan to breed... Then Aurora and the Anery that we've decided to be strictly pets... As much as I would LOVE to have a retic... I know I have to wait till we have a bigger place and can put up a nice 8ft. cage, and possibly even until I get out of the Army so I have more time at home *year round, deployment wise* It's good to know what u want before u buy though... We had the breeding plans for the pairs we have... And I want a retic and a GTP... Other then that... maybe a pied axanthic bp or a blue eyed lucy later down the road... But the boas are my passion... My goal is a moonglow And I've always had a thing for GTP's... I've ALWAYS wanted one, and as far as the retic, ever since I've seen them and read up on them and learned about them and their attitudes... I've loved them!
But anyways... I'm rambling Just think about what u want and stick with what u can handle And don't buy on impulse!!!

Re: OMG they are taking over.
It's easy to get caught up in collecting boas! Just don't forget they get big and are expensive to feed. It helps me to curb my desires!

My snakes combined are so much cheaper to feed than my six month old monitor. I think I could easily food four more snakes for the prices of feeding that little scaled pig. Getting him definitely put an end to wanting any more animals for a while.

Re: OMG they are taking over.
I know how you feel! My room and my walk-in closet are full. I have roommates so I try to keep all of my snakes in my area of the apartment: the only animal out in the living room is my ackie monitor Yasu.

Re: OMG they are taking over.
Just as a thought, you might want to read through this thread. And like the others have said...If you are already feeling a little pinch it probably is really not the time for adding a Burm. If that situation doesn't apply to you, then forget this.
When is it too many?....

Re: OMG they are taking over.
I have 20 snakes and that doesn't even include the numerous turtles I have. But hey, could be worse, I could have a human child instead... $1000s more a year would be spent on a single kid alone for food, clothes, diapers, toys, etc etc etc... ugugghguhgh.
