I don't know of sites on Philly in particular, but I'm sure they are out there. Honestly, though, don't trust them. If you are worried about your city laws, call City Hall and ask to speak to someone who might know about animal control laws. Then call your county clerk's office and ask about any laws for the county you live in. And of course, state Parks & Wildlife is your last call. Each of those will have seperate laws and regulations that you'll need to follow. One or more may not even regulate, but if you have any doubts its always best to find out before you risk being fined and having your animals confiscated and euthanized. These laws change constantly, and the only way to be sure on the info is to get it from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

Ok, thanks Rav. I'm just worried that if I get a snake and then have to move for grad school I won't be a le to keep it.
So, one more Q: what if they make the law and you already have a snake? Do you move, and you get special "passes" or sth?
Thanks again!

Sometimes they will grandfather in anyone who comes forward with proof they've had an animal previous to the time the law was passed. Which basically makes you exempt, for -that- animal. Doesn't mean you can get any more animals though. Grandfather clauses in such cases are usually only implemented at the behest of people who show up to counsel meetings and make their voice heard about the law. If no one objects it, then usually no such claus is added. When laws are passed with no grandfather claus in them, it basically means any current owners must get rid of the animals which no longer are legal - usually within an alloted time. 30 days is not uncommon. Last year they passed an exotic animal law in my county, everyone who had wild cats (from lions and tigers all the way down to servals) had 30 days to rehome them outside the county or risk having them confiscated and euthanized. Its a real silly process... and often the laws are passed with unfounded reasons, but its still something every exotic pet owner needs to be aware of.
