Re: Finnegan the squirrel (with pictures)
On the next day Finnegan realized that even though she was a papillon, she was still a dog....

Re: Finnegan the squirrel (with pictures)
It's terrible, but this story and John's lovely pic actually remind me of something kinda tragic that happened this past November...
I was visiting my mom's home back in Cincy when I noticed some kids outside messing with something crawling on the sidewalk next to the road...It was a baby squirrel, too young to leave the nest, ridden with fleas, and very weak. Much like the one in the above story...So, of course, I drop what I'm doing, take the little guy and made him a bed in a shoebox, run to a petshop and buy kitten formula (this works as a sub) with a bottle and take this squirrel,
bottle-feed him around-the-clock for 2 days, and he really seems to be coming around, moving fast, alert, tries to climb up my arm...things are looking good...
So then, the next day I have to make the trip back out here to VA, I found a wildlife rescue I was going to take him to (as much fun as it would be to raise a squirrel, I don't have the time or space), and I take him and his shoebox, set them on the couch as I run into the kitchen for literally 15 seconds, come back, and...EXACTLY as in the pic above, one of my Mom's little mini-Dachsunds jumped up (I didn't even know he was in the house ), stuck his nose in that box, and wham, took the little guy's head clean off...It truly was really sad...
But I did reason it out in the long run...He very well may have made a great meal for a big Black Rat snake anyway...I'm still mad at that dog though...He's so bad!
Oh, and Stargazer, I apologize for countering your beautiful and heartwarming squirrel-dog story with my much less-cute one...But it did bring back memories...

Oh, John, I think you just nullified the cuteness! ha ha

Re: Finnegan the squirrel (with pictures)
It's okay, Kyle. Whatever the outcome, I still thought it was too cute not to post. Cuteness always wins, at least in the Stargazer book of post selection.

Re: Finnegan the squirrel (with pictures)
It's funny, I'm slooowwwly starting to allow the word "cute" into my vocabulary, don't ask me why, I still cannot utter the word in person unless I'm quoting someone or something (For some reason it seems so wrong to hear a guy say "cute"...like a Richard Simmons kind of wrong/weird).......But your story is indeed very "cute..." And my little squirrel was too...for a few days. Maybe I'll get another chance someday at squirrel-parenting.

Re: Finnegan the squirrel (with pictures)
had a pet squirrel when I was in Florida. He was the sweetest thing and slept in the bed with me. He was potty trained and everything. I raised him from a fuzzy. If he didn't like someone he would pee on them O.I! I would play with him like a kitten with my hand and stuff. It was cool. Deff. A wild animal though. He decided he wanted to go live with other squirrels one day and left home. But I always saw him around and would play with him outside. It was cool

That is adorable. What happened to him? My one up close cuteness encounter with a squirrel happened years ago when I was living with my bf in a 2-story apartment. A squirrel climbed up the building and found a hole in our window screen. He would come in and visit, sitting in my lap and eating peanut butter off a spoon. Every day I'd yell out the window "LITTLE SQUIRREL" and make a little clicking noise. He would come running. I really missed him when we moved.

Well, personally, I am one who finds the cuteness in anything. I even think Richard Simmons is adorable. In fact I just worked out to his DVD today (funny you should mention him.) When looking for reasons to post a thread, cuteness trumps everything else.

Funny indeed! I was picking at a friend with an over weight turtle and made this montage.
Sweating with (to) the Oldies.

Re: Finnegan the squirrel (with pictures)
Well, I was going to post some pictures of Peanut, a rescue from '05, but photobucket is being retarded, so I can't. Maybe later.

OMG, is that from "Sweating to the Oldies?" I was going to order that one, too, but somehow I don't think it will be a high enough impact workout! LOL. I always thought "oldies" referred to the actual songs!
