Re: Does anyone else HATE their job?
I'm not thrilled with my boss. I think a lot of job hate may possibly be poor leadership, but there are lots of different reasons to like or dislike jobs.
I graduated in May and am starting to look for a new job, but will actually be a bit sad when I leave this one, I am a school nurse and I love children.
Brandon, I am sad you hate your job, why do you think that is?

Re: Does anyone else HATE their job?
There are several reasons, but you actually nailed my primary problem....pooooor leadership!
I feel helpless as I see inefficiency being covered up though layoffs, budget/bonus cuts, and number-manipulation.
I am a business school grad and feel that I could wite a business proposal to the the VP of sales that would show how I can save my department over $1 million per year. The problem lies in the fact that first, protocol says that I must first properly utilize the chain of command...but the next three layers of bosses would never let a proposal that shows their ineffectiveness get through. Secondly...I know too much about how this company is structured and I have no desire to move up any further through the ranks. I'm just looking to get away from here as fast as possible.
I could write an essay on this topic and am trying to just summarize my thoughts...the bottom line is: I am too good to be here. I have never been more miserable making $60K.
How I feel about my boss ---->

I am in the same boat as you guys and to tell you the truth if it wasn't for the bad economy I would already be gone.

Re: Does anyone else HATE their job?
I'm glad I'm educated and capable. I'll be out of here soon enough. As for the economy...I'm still here for the same reason.

Re: Does anyone else HATE their job?
So, do it! Submit your proposal to the VP of sales. If he suggest using the proper channels explain/prove that they are part of the problem.

Re: Does anyone else HATE their job?
Believe me, I've tossed the idea around. I even sat down and outlined the proposal. Like I said, though, I have no desire to move up and it may even cause indirect problems for me while I'm with the company. It may be best not to stick my neck out.

Re: Does anyone else HATE their job?
I'm the type of person that I would put my neck on the line. And I have done so many of times in the past.
Just write it up as it should be make three copies and send each one a copy of it. it may or may not do any good.
Also if a person hates their job so much why put up with it. yes the time are tough for jobs right now, but just think how much better you'll sleep at night.

Re: Does anyone else HATE their job?
They're doing the same thing at my job, cutting the work force from 5000 people down to 2000 people -- why might you ask? Because of poor management they are over budget 2 billion dollars....and they're not even half way through with the project. Needless to say, nobody knows if their job is safe including me----and that sucks!
.
About my actual job though, I really like it. I think my boss is a GREAT guy, and he's really easy to talk to and is understanding. I've always been pretty intimidated by my bosses, but with this one, he doesn't make you feel intimidated. I think its cause he likes to talk a lot lol. You start out talking about work, and it leads to just some random conversation -- but I'm okay with that, because it makes me more comfortable -- because he doesn't do that with everyone -- just the people he likes. Plus he's very understanding about my pets, and that sometimes they need to go to the vet. He thinks of pets as being like children who have to go to the doctor. None of my other boses have ever been understanding about me having to take a snake to the vet...but he says "I guess its just like any other animal, they gotta go to the vet too" .... way cool. Finally someone gets it! And finally, he isn't afraid to stick his neck out there for any employee he repsects or feels has been treated unfairly.....a quality you rarely find in management.

Reptilian logic would dictate: "If a turtle does not stick out its neck, it makes no progress."
However, with the current state of the economy, it's probably best to just grin and bear it.

Re: Does anyone else HATE their job?
Ugh.
I can't wait to get out of the company I'm working for.
They're about to go under, so I don't even know that I'm safe.
Thankfully there is a job opportunity rising for me in February.. My fingers are knotted - forget crossing them!

Re: Does anyone else HATE their job?
This is the underlying detate raging in my head, as we speak. DO I actually follow through with this and rock the boat, or sit quietly and continue saturating empoyers with my resume and slip out of this black hole asap?
KobiBaby, I only dream of having a boss that looks at employees like people and not objects there to stroke his ego.

Re: Does anyone else HATE their job?
I've had bosses who were fair, ethical, and had the attitude that they were there in order to make sure I had everything I needed to do my job well.
I do SO much more for them than I do for ignorant, deceitful, micromanaging idiots that spend their days berating their employees and puckering up to kiss up to their superiors.

Get another job lined up, then rock the boat! I personally would do it if I knew I had a back-up option.
