chance did good!

i know some of the older members remember when i got chance she had 5 layers of old shed on her. after soaking her every day till her next shed she finally shed and she shed from the tail up. i never seen anything like it. but for the next 5 years when she shed it always took her anywhere from 20-28 hours. i have always had to do her tail for her. she would get the shed off her head and then she would rest for about 6 hours and start again. once she got to her tail she would just stop and not do it. i always did her tail after 20+ hours. the last few months she has got her shedding down to about 10 hours ( i still do her tail) today she shed and did it in 3 hours!!! she really seems to be doing so much better in the last few months. she even half strikes at her dead rats! she has always just crawled up to them and ate them. of course she dont coil them but she cant from the old breaks in her back. she also takes about an hour to eat her rat. i guess she is just real slow at everything like the southern folks, maybe at heart she is a southern snake. lol. well for her great job at shedding she has 2 rats thawing in the fridge and they will be ready when i get home at 6am.

now max on the other hand does everything in overdrive. when he is shedding he is like 'hey mom look' and he is doing jumping jacks and back flips and he has even turned into a hoop snake and rolls. arms and legs going in all directions! people wonder why i dont date....can you imagine having company over and watching a movie and hearing all kinds of racket and the guest looking over and there is a 10 foot burm doing jumping jacks! i would be like 'oh just ignore him he is shedding! you dont even want to talk about him eating! i swear he catches the rat in mid air and constricts and swallows at the same time. i am scared to put 2 in at once cause he would manage to swallow them at the same time. why wont someone invent snake Ritalin?

he just shed yesterday and he is getting his 2 rats in the morning too. shedding is the most exercise a snake does ( well excluding max) and i know they must build up an appetite so if it is within a few days of feeding day, i feed them early.

oh my goodness...american rodent sent me almost all dark colored rats this time. chance will not eat any color but white. she never has. she will only eat all white rabbits. i kind of wonder if the rat that chewed on her before was colored. but anyways i fed chance a xxxjumbo dark rat and a xxxjumbo white rat right behind it. she actually moved the dark one away and ate the white one. she would have nothing to do with the dark one. max had just ate 2 xxjumbo rats and i gave him chances colored rat. he ate that one too and he is huge

he can barely move his fat butt and he was looking for more. now he is laying on his heat pad with that look ' i cant believe i ate the whole thing' hopefully he will unswell some tomorrow for pictures. this is the only time he isn't putting the Tasmanian devil to shame. he is actually calm!

They do make hair dye. just dye the rats white, Or bleach them.

Ok he found his riddlin.hehe. Anyways you could try 2 handed feeding. Wht in 1 hand colored in the other. Dangle white and get her to tag the colored one. I dunno I don't have a color issue when feeding the snakes. Sorry.

my snakes havent turned down the dark ones, most of mine come in white, or white with black heads...

Have you tried emailing rodentpro and asking for a special order including only white prey? I can't see them refusing to accomodate you.

That is really weird; I guess I didn't think about what colors snakes can distinguish between.

chance dont really strike. once in a great while she attempts it but it is kind of well...ummm, lame. lol
