Only to get out of bed and find out that they are actually real jackhammers in your livingroom?

This happened to me today. Last night at about 3AM, I found out that I had a hot water pipe burst. There was about an inch of water in my livingroom floor. That is a pretty neat trick since the floor is solid concrete with carpet over it. I called the emergency maintance people and he came out at about 4AM to kindly explain to me that all of my snakes were going to have to be moved so the plumbers could get to the floor with the jackhammers. So after moving all the snakes and watching the guy vacuum my carpet with a shop vac, I finaly got to bed about 5:30 this morning. 7:30 AM is when the fun started.

I have woken up feeling like jackhammers were pounding in the next room, but never had it really be true before now.

Just thought I'd share.
-Your Tired Uncle Morti.

Did you try to explain to the guy that all that extra moisture and humidity in the air was good for the shed cycles of your snakes?!! Could be worse...I don't know how, but it could always be worse!

Oh it could definately be worse. I had a friend whose water pipe burst between floors while he was away for a week. His house was wrecked, sections of the ceiling collapsed and all his electronics were ruined. However, I'm sure that this is not much consolation to you, if you can even read this with all the racket. How long is this going to take them?

They are done with the jackhammering. They put new pipe in and we have hot water again. They put a piece of plywood over the giant gaping hole in my floor. This weekend the carpet people are coming out to put new pad down and get the moisture out of the carpet. Monday they are going to pour more concrete. Tuesday everything should be back to normal.

That is how my little world is. I am just glad the snakes are done with the little localized earthquake that they just experienced.

Well, until the people come to re-do the pad and take the moisture out of the carpet just consider it your little patch of the Amazon! Practice for camping in the Congo even!!!

Have a good sleep tonight you two!
