Interbreeding question
A friend was joking around and said I should breed 'boa-condas'. I tried to explain to him why that wouldn't work... And I couldn't. I don't know the genetic ins and outs well enough to say anything beyond 'they're not the same species'. Anyone want to help me out and make me sound smarter next time I try to explain something like that?
I did point out how the anaconda would probably eat the red tail, rather than breed with it.

Re: Interbreeding question
Explain it as the same reason you can't make Chicken-sparrows or Turk-Emus. Yeah, they're all birds, but they won't mix. It's like that old Loverboy song, "Pig and elephant DNA just won't splice."

LOL!! I wish I would have been sober enough to think of that...

Re: Interbreeding question
To play Devil's Advocate... A few years ago no one even dreamed a ball and a (oh let's see....) burm, carpet, woma, or blood python could hybridize. Now it's been proven possible. No one has really screwed around with boas yet, so who knows? IMO it's totally plausible, albeit highly unlikely.
