Then why was there a big to do about losing the domain name. There was a big save the redtailboa.net campaign, but we changed the name to reptilehaven anyway!?!?! What exactly was my $25 dollars for?

We did not have everyones email to notify them of the change. With about 3000 members or so, some of which o not frequent every day i am sure, they needed to be able to find us again. It is a transitional process. At least this is my tae on it. Look at it this way, if Google went to SearchMe.com and noone told you, would you be able to find it or even spend the time tryin?

Well, we are best known for the redatil name, the redtailboa.net IS up and running again, and we wanted to keep one of the free services for ALL members, the email.
Some of the pros and cons were tossed around and the best bang for the buck that we could do was to get the domain back.

edited- Bw was posting as I was typing, but he jostled my memory a bit... The time and costs of getting listed on search engines alone, made it a good deal on the buy-back. That and other issues with the email service, which is set up on a system that is no longer offered. New accts there just to get the reptilehaven name, would have been right at 30 dollars a member acct. Old, new , didn't matter.
